Tuition Grants Commission Approves Maximum Grant for 2026-27
At the March 10, 2026, meeting of the Higher Education Tuition Grants Commission, the Commission voted unanimously to approve and set the Maximum Tuition Grant at $5,000 for the 2026-2027 Award Year. This is the second year in a row the Commission has been able to set the Maximum Grant at $5,000, which is the largest maximum grant in the Program’s 56-year history. After a thorough review of expected funds and projected recipient numbers, Commission Staff felt comfortable recommending the Grant remain available up to $5,000. This is made possible by the continued support of state aid programs by the South Carolina General Assembly.
The Commission is honored to be able to assist thousands of South Carolinians in their pursuit of higher education by administering this important program, and we are thrilled that the award amount can be increased this year thanks to the support of the General Assembly.
Tentative eligibility notifications will begin going out to students on March 31st. Program eligibility requirements can be found on the Eligibility Information page.
